Time for breakfast then finish packing before checking out and heading to the airport for our flight home. We opted for the Uber ride to the airport for door to door service - a little expensive but worth it so my Mom did not have to walk to the train station and tackle the train and all the stairs.
Munich airport is rather large - getting to different gates/terminals takes some time - elevators, escalators, terminal tram and walking. The walking part was good because it took us right past the Duty Free Shop where I was able to stock up on the rum supply for home.
We used the electronic passport control lanes which was very fast and easy, allowing us to cut down on waiting in the queue. Arrived at our gate in plenty of time before priority boarding. I was actually the first one on the plane - don't think that has ever happened!
Plane travel can be good, but there are sometimes some pitfalls. I just wish people would pay more attention to their personal hygiene habits before boarding a transatlantic flight for 8 hours!!! Keep your shoes on...especially if you are going to the washroom - GROSS! Please dear God, cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. And please stay seated during the cart service...haha!
Germany observations:
- people are very nice and helpful (even if you order a mojito with NO mint, they don't judge!)
- their English is fantastic...never lost in translation
- FYI...the word autobahn is German for motorway/highway...it's not just one road with no speed limit
- speed limits do occur but there are spots on the highway where they do not - however, they change based on traffic conditions
- beautiful mountain scenery never gets old
A great trip - certainly lots to see and do in Germany! Love travelling, but it is also nice to get home.
OMG! Look how long my grass is!!!
